2024-2025 RAD Rabbit crew!!

2024-2025 RAD Rabbit crew!!

It's been quiet yes, but I have been making moves.

After returning home from London, I took my usual two weeks post-marathon time off.  This means absolutely no running and intense activity.  The most I did was walk about 2-3 miles every other day.  Before London I visited a PT a handful of times due to my back issues and as we know it was not enough to "fix" my problem to not affect my race. Now that I'm back home I've been visiting my PT at least 2x a week and my core (in turn, my back) has been getting stronger.

I am highly anticipating a positive return in this therapeutic investment and I look forward to what the Berlin Marathon training block brings (which by the way, starts next week).

I've placed my new London Marathon medal on it's own little display apparatus on a shelf above my computer.  It looks so good nestled between my Chicago Marathon and Boston Marathon medals. Later this Fall I will be adding the Berlin Marathon medal to the collection.

Earlier last month I traveled to Washington DC for work.  I always enjoy work travel, especially for the running views. My trip happened just as my no-running period lifted and I was able to complete my run tours around the city.

If you don't already know, DC is such a fun place to run.  In past trips I've run around Georgetown, Woodley Park, National Mall, Canary Wharf, and Dupont Circle to name a few.  This past trip I enjoyed some new sights by running around Capitol Hill and the Penn Quarter. Fun!

I have a couple friends in DC so I was able to spend time with them. I keep telling myself that one day I will travel to DC to run the Cherry Blossom 10 miler or the Army Ten-Miler.  One day I'll make that a reality and hopefully then will my husband and son join me on the trip.

A few weekends ago a friend and me supported the runners and athletes at the Colfax Marathon race. It was such an exciting event!  Although I had plans to run the 10 mile race (my favorite), both my coach and PT thought it best that I sit it out.  I was bummed at first, but I'm glad I did.

My friend and I made signs, rang bells, and shouted/cheered for hours until our voices were gone. We positioned ourselves just past the 25-mile mark and we received many comments that our signs were the best!

Katherine Switzer (bada** woman and marathoner) has said, "if you are losing faith in human nature, go out and watch a marathon." She's right!  We stood witness to hundreds of people in all stages of motivation, fatigue, and resilience. Some shuffled past quoting to themselves mantras "you can do this", "you are strong", "keep going" and we cheered them along. Some were in disbelief that they made it this far and we cheered them along. Being on the other side of the race was an experience I'll not forget. It was truly incredible!

In other news, my girl and I have been keeping it easy with our runs and I've been telling her about my goals for this upcoming training block. 1. I want to be faster. 2. I want to explore more of my city during my runs. 3. I want to participate in more local races. 4. I want to run with a run club at least 2x a month.

All of these are doable.  Most importantly, I want to continue having fun.

A couple days ago I received notification that I was selected to be a part of the 2024-2025 RAD Rabbit crew with rabbit. I am so excited to have been selected as part of the team and I look forward to sharing more about the experience and the brand.

While I was training for the London Marathon, I was also fundraising for Tuesday's Children. A few weeks before the race, they sent me a long sleeve shirt that was INCREDIBLY soft and fit my larger frame so nicely.  I have some extra pounds on my frame in addition to a long torso, so it's always difficult for me to find something that fits nicely.  I'm the type of person/shopper that once I find something I like, I'll stick with it. The shirt that fit so nicely was by the rabbit brand.

I then proceeded to buy more clothing from them and each piece has been my new favorite. I have not tried their pants yet, but I will. I tend to like longer pant styles for running bottoms.

However, everything I have purchased from rabbit thus far has been amazing. A few weeks ago I received an email with a link to apply to be on the RADrabbit crew. I applied and now I'm in!

Despite it being super hot already these days, I am looking forward to this next season of running (both literally and figuratively). I am motivated to bring my best and feel my best.

Cheers!
