Race Week - London Marathon 2024

Race Week - London Marathon 2024

Now we are here.

Months ago I laced up my shoes and set foot outside to begin my first training run for the London Marathon.  Though I have run a marathon before, the training is always daunting because if you're anything like me, the mind immediately begins to think about race day and the distance of 26.2 miles as opposed to focusing on the current mile to set the foundation.

As Robert Collier shared, "Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out."

Though I had a rough training cycle toward the end due to a minor and pesky injury, I am trusting that I have what I need to get me across the finish line in London.

I have been receiving numerous emails from the marathon organizers, hotel, and flight operator on the logistics for the race and upcoming travel.  It is a bit stressing and this is my first time traveling internationally for a race.  I have lists upon lists on all the to-dos and need-to-packs that need to be done before we leave the US.

My girl can tell that the family is preparing to leave.  Though she loves her kennel team, she is very clingy with me.  After all, she kept me safe and helped pull me through the miles to train.  I wish I could bring home a medal just for her too.

I want to take a moment to acknowledge my husband and son.  Both of them are my biggest cheerleaders and understand the sacrifices attached to a goal of this magnitude. I am honored that they support me the way they do. Their gentle words and actions to remind me of my 'why' can move mountains. I am blessed.

Many, many thanks to each of you who have donated and provided words of encouragement during this journey.  I've just about reached my fundraising goal and I am happy that the funds raised are going toward an incredible cause.

Thank you for following along in this endeavor. My latest YouTube video has been posted here.

*deep breath*  Here we go!

Hugs, high fives, and giddy smiles,
